DIY Helmet wrapping with vents
Discussion
Hello,
Just wondering, from the wrappers out there, im guessing this helmet would be easy to be wrapped but how would you finish off around the 'vents'

Would you just let the wrap sink deep into the holes then trim at an angle going down into the helmet? Or put a bit of detailer 1mm tape around the openings and then trim around that as a guide?
Or would it be a complete pig to wrap and would be best off spraying the grey to yellow?
Thanks

It Probably wouldn’t be too hard to wrap with decent vinyl as you’ve got convenient places to send the flutes caused by the excess.
There also seems to be lines to easily separate the job in to pieces.
It’s hard to tell what the edges of the vent holes are like.
Does the liner come away at all?
If not, I’d maybe use a very small amount of adhesion promoter down inside the lip of each vent hole, send the vinyl in as far as possible with a decent push stick and slice off as neatly as possible.
Don’t get it sprayed; paint solvents will often cause weakening of the helmet, even if it’s not visible it’s not something I’d risk.

Ok thanks, im just going to wrap the grey/black yellow as its a hard plastic. There also seems to be lines to easily separate the job in to pieces.

The yellow is a softer plastic which im going to leave as is
Nah the liner doesnt come away, i can practise on my white one though if needs be (took a few hits which damaged it so its a spare/repair/practise one).
Now ive just got to find some decent vinyl as im guessing the ones found on ebay arent the best?

I’m sure you could get some decent stuff off eBay, but to save you looking about I’d suggest MDP supplies. They’re probably easier to get a bit of vinyl for a small project than other suppliers that tend to stay with trade customers.I’m not sure if they supply adhesion promoter there.
If you do manage to get some to use, be VERY sparing with it, and be absolutely sure you’ve sorted all the vinyl nearby it before you make contact with the adhesive; you pretty much only get one go with it if it’s doing it’s job correctly.
