My wife is after a new car and this has popped up.

She loves the car but hates the stripes - how easy is it to get them removed (by the dealer hopefully) and will it be likely to leave marks / residue?

Many thanks

The dealer wil probably remove them carefully with a heatgun, remove any adhesive residue and repolish..
I think it should be just fine then.

There was one of the Dom Littlewood programmes on recently which showed a brand new Mini from build to the customer picking it up from the dealer.
In that one the stripes were put on at the dealer so if it's a new new car you're getting then speak to the supplying dealer.

If it's a used but new to her car then vinyl is usually not difficult to remove as above BUT no guarantees that there won't be some variation & you'll only know once the stripes are removed. Older the car the greater the chance.

It shouldn't leave marks/residue if removed carefully with heat + polished afterwards. I also imagine mini dealers of all brands would be familiar with adding and removing decals.

What you might get is some very slight colour variation in the red under it where it hasn't faded as much under the stripes.
On a nearly new car, I'd expect this to be minimal to the point of not being an issue (even if visible under careful inspection)

I had terrible trouble removing the factory applied stripes on a 2006 model with a heat gun, it really was a horrible job.
Resulted in a bonnet respray sadly due to some scratching left behind.

We rives stripes on a 2017 JCW (rebel green paint) and came off with just peeling carefully.
No heat gun.
One was easier than the other.
A polish abs all looks fine. No colour variation.

Red has more chance of colour variation the longer its sat in the sun

Thanks everyone.

I did wonder about faded paint.
