Wrap pros/cons
Discussion
Morning, currently have a 991 911 Turbo S Cab;

I was browsing used Porsche earlier on in the week as I'm a little bit bored of the black when I came across this;
https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/details/porsch...
Fell in love with it. I approached a well regarded wrapping company relatively local to me and asked how close they could get to that colour and they suggested Inozetek Midnight Purple and sent the following images over to me;

Now I'm not a fan of it on the RRS but I do think it'll look pretty good on my 911.
Anyone have any thoughts? I think I'd want to change the wheel colour too.
My other questions are regarding the pros and cons of a wrap. Is it easily damaged? Does it require a particular method of cleaning? What happens if a panel does end up damaged? Assume you'd re-wrap the whole panel?
The wrap itself seems to get good reviews.
Anyone else wrapped their car? Please post a picture for inspiration

For me, it's not so much the wrapping, that can look fine, it's the removal, there can be an awful lot of damage done when the car is wrapped, which can't be seen until the wrap is removed. The removal can also cause damage.
Wrap removal that pulled some paint off:

Also, you might have more problems selling it with the wrap as you can't show the buyer the condition of the paintwork.

Wrap only has a limited lifespan as well. Because it's a convertible there is much less to be painted so that's the route I would recommend, if you
can strip and prep it yourself it shouldn't cost that much more than a wrap, although paintwork quality and how far you want to go whether you want
door checks / engine bay etc done as well will affect the price markedly, it's worth at least asking for quotes.
Personally I would keep that car original but if I had to choose it would be respray every time.

Yes some wrapped cars look great and you would never really tell but its removing the thing that concerns me. Imagine coming to sell a car, the wrap gets removed and theres blade marks or lacquer lifting......
I would never buy a wrapped car, a modified car yes but wrapped no. Getting a car repainted properly is not cheap......
Whenever i see a colour like that it reminds me of the door colour to this.

I'm a fan of wraps, here's mine. I did change the wheels to match the wrap. One thing I will say is if you are happy with the installer on collection inspect it with a magnifying glass so to speak. Look out for any pimple type defects in the surface.
On collection of mine I noticed such a defect, there then followed an exchange with the company about what it was. They insisted it was a stone chip badly blobbed I knew it wasn't the case. Anyway it was as I had said all along a bit of dust under the wrap. They wanted to charge me a lot of money to correct their own fault. In the end I insisted being present when the bonnet section of the wrap was removed and despite trying to tell me otherwise it was what I said all along.
You can have the door shut sections wrapped which does cost quite a bit more, I didn't and can live with seeing the original colour when I open the doors.
I had a Wax is Dead nano coating on the wrap which is very hard but you can still mark or damage the wrap. I bought 5 litres of G Techniq QD detail spray which seems to keep it nice.
All in all apart from the people who did my wrap I like it, I usually change my car every year but now may just change the wrap.
The DVLA lost my V5C so when you send it in send it signed for recorded, your insurance company will charge you a bit extra for some reason.
Some wraps have a 7 year life span but as they improve the technology I'm sure they will last longer and be more colour variant.

Tbh it's all down to personal preference and what you want however wraps only last for a few years and devalue your car alot as they cause can alot of damage to the paints clear coat so when you want to sell it.
I don't know much about wrap I think if it's done correctly it probabbly won't do to much damage.
If you want just a normal color I would say paint personally though paint is harder to wash you got to take extra provisions.
