My Jaguar STR now has dark grey matte alloys. I'm pretty pleased with the look. How easy they are to clean and maintain will decide if I keep them matte!

Just wondering if you guys can recommend what wheel cleaner I should be using for matte alloys? Is there anything specific I should be looking out for?

Cheers.

Hi, i have matt Audi wheels and i am also a well researched weekend warrior car detailer so i hope i can help.

the fact they are Matt makes no odds (unless you intended to ceramic protect which might add gloss) otherwise same as gloss.

how dirty the wheels are will dictate what best to clean them with.

if they are heavily contaminated use a non acid iron reactive wheel cleaner, (personally i like built hamber auto wheels, there are many other but i find it effective) the only thing to watch with these iron fall out cleaners they will react to the iron on the disc's, it will not effect them but they discolor until you next brake.. so a degree of avoiding spraying the discs is advised.

If it's a weekly maintenance wash, i would use a non acid wheel cleaner such as valet pro bilberry wheel cleaner, its safe and has enough bite to clean effectively.

always dry with a microfibre cloth or towel after washing to avoid Water spots.

side note i have tried several wheel waxes or products claiming to protect your wheels, i wouldn't bother, careful cleaning with brushes or cloths that don't scratch are your best bet.
