Can dyeing a car seat a different colour really work?
Discussion
Is it possible to dye dark grey leather car seats to make them a mid tan colour ?
Some websites say it can be done, others not ??!! Results can vary from good to poor.
It would be done by a professional, not a diy effort.
Has anyone had the leather seat colour changed and how successful was it ?
A complete retrim is just too expensive.
Thanks
Brian.

This was my DIY effort on a TVR interior.

I’ve also re-coloured a pair of Tuscan seats and seats/door cards in my old Exige. Very happy with the results, they lasted well so I’d expect a professional job would also.
Regarding colour choice, it’s obviously easier to go light > dark, but during the prep phase the majority of existing dye is removed anyway. I found leather easier to work with than vinyl or other man made materials.
ETA - there have been some comments added to that thread by a ‘pro’ since I last looked. Sure he knows what he’s talking about but I’d still be 100% happy recolouring leather again.
