Mercedes headlight lens replacement

I've got a 2017 Vclass and the plastic headlight lens has cracked, a new lens isn't available from Mercedes and a complete headlight is over £800. I put a second hand unit in which is fine, but I've now got a perfectly functioning headlight ready to go to landfill because the lens is cracked
After doing some digging it appears that an aftermarket lens is available but the difficulty is removing the old one, some say it has a sealant that requires a special chemical to dissolve, I do know that my hot air gun didn't have any impact on it so I wonder if anyone has any experience/bright ideas?
