Car seat catastroff

This morning mrs WD managed to bust open a 2kg bag of porridge oats on the back seat. Seems no amount of vacuuming/brushing will remove the white residue left on the dark grey alcantara and I’m wary of using any of the “wet” type interior cleaners as I think it will just melt the oat powder into a sticky mess. I’ve looked around the web and all the alcantara solutions seem to be spray on products for cleaning stains, nobody seems daft enough to spread flour on the seats😠

Anyone got any ideas how I can clean this off?

I'd probably use something like a tornador air attachment or a mechanical beater (like those pulverizing massagers) to agitate it out if you're concerned about it setting. Hard to say without seeing it to be honest.

Have you tried a soft bristle brush to dislodge anything? Chances are you would be fine with a decent interior cleaning solution, a soft brush and a lot of clean microfibre towels to wipe off with.

Can you remove the seats entirely and then give them a good old fashioned beating while hanging them in the garage ?

Fine dust is a real pain to get out, and I agree that adding something wet will only result in a sludge build up.

Alcantara is virtually indestructible so just start scrubbing.

Mind you a previous car we sold after my wife spilled 2l of milk in the passenger footwell in the summer. No matter how many times it was cleaned, even professionally the car still smelt of sick after a few days

How about trying a compressed airline to blow it out rather than trying to suck it out using a vacuum?

I imagine your local back street garage would let you have a go with theirs for a beer token or two?.

Thanks for the tips folks, will have another go when I get back to base as we are travelling away at the moment and it happened just before we were due to set off so start was delayed a bit. Oats were being delivered to somebody on the way, they only have half a bag now!

It’s just grain dust. Vacuum the bits up, then wash/wipe with damp cloth.

Vibration... You need to fluidize the dust and then hoover it up.
