I’ve used Autoglym wheel cleaner, but had mixed results with it. And I generally have to have a couple of goes at cleaning each wheel to get an acceptable result.

Unlike most Autoglym products this seems to be the one with the worst reviews.

Can anyone recommend a good alternative wheel cleaner and does anyone recommend ceramic coating the wheels?

Thanks

Bilt-Hamber Wheel Cleaner

If that doesn't get them clean, nothing will.

Ceramic coating - it's a good thing but I'm informed that the prep to apply is time-consuming (and therefore expensive, unless you're up for doing it yourself)

I've used Car Pro's Iron X for a while now, works well on removing brake dust and other contaminants and you can use it on paintwork as well.

As for ceramic coating, it's not that hard to do but might take a while depending on what wheels you have as you need to apply and then take it off s section at a time without letting it dry.

I've got multispoke's and couldn't be bothered with ceramic coating them so just used a wax (Rimwax) which has held up well.

The autoglym wheel cleaners are rubbish. I use fallout remover which works a lot better, I use the Infinity Wax one but the Carpro one also mentioned is good along with Bilthamber.

Cermaic coating wheels is a pain, I use the spray on stuff like IW Boost or the Gyeon product to give them a coating that is better than nothing and is easily re-applied.

Bilt Hamber as mentioned, works really well.

Another vote for this, best I've found.

Another vote for BH's Autowheel, only slight agitation required for even the most ingrained filth.

I use 303 Graphene nano spray coating on my wheels. It doesn't take long to apply, just wipe on buff off. With that the wheels clean pretty easily with a noodle mitt and whatever shampoo I'm washing the car with.

Every few months I top up with 303 touchless sealant, which is just spray on and rinse off.

I usually use Bilberry’s wheel cleaner for weekly washes. The fall out remover is usually saved for the pre and post winter details.

I’ve recently started using Alien Magic’s wheel cleaner. It’s quite thick so clings to the wheels well leaving plenty of time to agitate with a brush.

Another shout for Bilberry’s. Clears the dirt without removing any polish or coating.

Great stuff
Did mine today. Gave it a spray & left it for a few mins, turns purple.
A blast from the jetwash, the grime goes. It does it’s job well..

I'm slowly working my way through a litre of wonder wheels. It does the job, needs plenty of rinsing and you need a hazmat suit when using it, but it works .

When this stuff has run out I'll give the BH product a go, based on the reviews and other BH products I've used being excellent.

I found Autoglym bodywork shampoo and conditioner works well on wheels. I had a (different) 19” set cleaned up and powder coated, and they told me just to use mild bodywork wash liquid.

Deep clean maybe once every few months with Bilt Hamber Autowheels and use normal car shampoo for a weekly clean.
I coat mine with Turtle wax seal and shine too which helps and is easy enough to do.
