Does anyone have any experience of costs with getting aftermarket panels (wing panels, bumper, etc) painted that are already primed and ready? I would like to imagine they would be cheaper than a respray as you wont have to sand the panel back down.

Just wanted to get some guidance so I know what a good quote looks like from a body shop.

For context, I need a new wing panel for my car but it's so hard to find a car in the breakers yard that a. has the same paint and b. a panel that's not had any form of damage whatsoever. Hence me going through this route instead.

Just because it comes primed it doesnt mean it wont need prepping and probably repriming.
That primer on a lot of reproduction panels is to stop rust or protect the substrate.

Id also never recommend painting just the new wing as you really need to blend the adjoining panels unless you want it to stand out from the existing paintwork.

Cost wise it will be no cheaper than any other paintwork to do

£350 per panel roughly also different paint colours need different colour primers so it will still need primer

Ouch - that's a lot of moolah. Ok, I'll stick to looking for panels from the breakers. It's a lot more work than I thought... and sounds like, it's almost going to cost me a full body paint at this point should I decide to change both wings + bumper.

Prices will vary widely from bodyshop to bodyshop and area to area.
Your best bet is to find a couple of local to you small ones & go & ask them.

Maybe a right-colour replacement with minor damage that a PDR guy could sort out works out cheapest.

You're aware that there may well be variations in shade of the same colour which will depend on which batch of paint was in use at the time your car and the donor car were each built?
Same colour name & code but a variant shade.
Some colours have lots.
Some can be minor but other can look like a different colour.
If you're lucky you'll get one that matches.
