Hello
My motorcycle blew over in a recent storm. The left cowl is cracked. I have glued and sanded the cracked parts. I will further bond when my plastic welder arrives. I have ordered an aerosol of the correct colour. I do not want to repaint the entire cowl if possible. Do I need to apply a primer to the cracked parts or is this a waste of time? The colour of the paint is silver. I can't post a pic at the moment (new starter rules).
Many Thanks

If you've sanded through the top coat of paint you need primer,if you've sanded back to the plastic you also need a plastic primer/adhesion promoter

Thank you. I never considered the pre primer adhesion requirement. Some areas are black so I
I am going to get this adhesion paint.

I think you’ll struggle to weld it now you’ve glued it- the glue often contaminates the weld area.

Thank you. There is a problem with my welder order so am sticking with the glue only solution.

If the glue doesn't hold up I recently used plastex to repair my fairings with great success.

Thanks for the plastex tip. I'm almost finished with the painting. Nowhere near perfect but I'm smiling with the result.

Here it is when it was damaged.

Here it is fixed.

That cost me £50 and took under a week. Could be better I know but I am a complete rookie.
