Rubbed paint with cable from trickle charger

Hi all

This is the result of the cable from the charger running against the front of the car over my lovely resprayed front end and presumably the cover being over the top of it. Annoyed is an understatement!

Can someone tell me that there’s a nice and simple solution to sorting this and “that’ll polish out easy”!!

Try something like this first.

A local valeter/detailer with a DA will sort that out in about 10 minutes - it looks alot worse than it is.

As above you could also try by hand with a decent polish.

That is easily fixable, just find a good detailer.

Assuming 5his is some sort of classic why not just remove the battery from the car for the winter ),while worked up and charge it out the car

Yes, entirely valid idea but never had this problem prior to respray and have the abiding memory of visiting the windmill TVR seller who had 15 cars all with trickle chargers sticking out under covers so it came as a surprise. It looks lovely but the paint scratches if you so much as look at it too hard, it’s odd.

Maybe a bit anal but always make sure the cable doesn’t touch the paint work…

Not at all, that’s absolutely happening going forwards!

You can buy a mag code power connector which can be permanently fitted to the vehicle somewhere.
It allows you to just clip on the charger for ease of use.
Usually fitted low down so it can't be seen, may not suit every car but a good idea.
