I used to do that, until one day Pavel and his mate with the aquablade put a criss-cross of hairline scratches on my wing. It's not worth the agro of driving home thinking your car looks nice again only to find a new set of marks to glare at when polishing the car in the spring.

If it’s cold enough to need gloves - then no washing. The risk is water freezing on pavements or drives and causing slips. It’s a no-no for me.

I always put on a pair of marigolds.

My hands never really touch the car directly and it saves my skin.

Hot water in the buckets and a pair of vinyl gloves should see you well.

Decent high water volume pressure washer with soap dispenser, long handled gentle brush, seperate wheel brush, no need for gloves.

I just make the bucket up with very hot water.

The freeze/burn combo kind of balances itself out.

When we built our new garage I made sure I had an outside hot tap as well as softened water on the cold side.
