Low sun and grubby glass

My car is nearly three years old. I had it ceramic coated when purchased and since then I've cleaned my glass regularly with different products, including kitchen glass type cleaners - Mister Muscle etc.

During this weather and the resultant crud on the roads, increased use of screenwash and general cleaning I've noticed a film that lies on top of the glass (almost like a wax polish) that I can't get rid of.

Any ideas, or products, that will strip this off and give me glass as it left the factory?

My immediate thought - The bottle of MEK I have is marketed as model glue... It's fantastic at melting and fusing plastics together? Not sure I'd want it near my car though

The Glaco Glass compound applicator is a very good option for ease of use and effectiveness.

I read that a magic eraser works well. Don't touch your paintwork or wheels with it.

This'll sound odd, but in the past i've used AG machine wash with an old clay bar. Then cleaned with a decent window spray or AG glass polish.

Are you sure it's on the outside? The inside of the windscreen gets dirtier than normal at this time of year when people are regularly using the max defrost on the windscreen function of the a/c.

Try some Autoglym Glass polish on the inside and outside, if its not man enough to clean the outside effectively try a cerium oxide based cleaner like Carpro Ceriglass.

That would be my bet, it’s on the inside. It is a sod to easily get to and clean, and it does get a dirty layer.

Autoglym glass polish is very good, I don't get on with spray on wipe off cleaners.

Cleaning the inside of a windscreen is one of my least favourite "detailing" jobs, but at this time of year, with the sun low in the sky, it's a necessary evil.

I use Stoners Invisible Glass, and their special swivel-head tool:

If the outside of the screen develops a greasy film which won't succumb to "normal" cleaners, I use Bar Keeper's Friend, washed off with lots of water, then an application of Stoners.

Thanks for that, I'll get some of these too. I've been having this problem too and it's definitely on the outside as the wipers visibly trail over it. It's bloody annoying.

Holts (latterly Simoniz) Mixra was superb, a foam type aerosol you'd give the screen a short blast let it work for a minute and just use the washers/wipers leaving a spotlessly clean screen that would last several hours of drizzle and spray before greasy road grime was an issue again.

I've still got one can left but this thread prompted me to replenish stock, can't find any, any suggestions for what is a decent alternative for simple spray on the screen and it does the business?
