Fixing car badge letters onto bodywork

I am painting the lower part of boot lid on the Skoda, estate badly chipped before me. Width of car and about four inches high. I have removed the Skoda badge using dental floss as I am too miserable to buy new. I have made a template to give me the position on re fitting.

Anyone have advice on re fixing them to paintwork? The double side tape I have is too thick and it will show under the badge. Superglue sounds too severe and might affect the paint.

I usually use 3M VHB tape for such things.

Cut the double sided tape as best you can to fit under the lettering. Use tweezers to locate it exactly in place.

Clear silicone, use masking tape to hold until it goes off.

I might be in the minority but I would leave them off; can't stand badges on the rear of cars, especially when they are impossible to clean in between the letters.

But if you're set on putting them back on, I'd agree with 3M tape.

I've not bought from either of the linked sellers.
The amazon price is eyewatering but is only for a pack of 10 strips.

Used to use a very similar 3M product which came on a narrow roll, but I can't remember what it was called as it lasted me for years!
IIRC it wasn't cheap either.

Apply the tape to the back of the badge then use a very sharp craft knife/razor blade to trim around the badge. Letters with enclosed areas such as 'O', 'B' etc can be fun.

Double sided foam tape. You can buy 3M stuff, or similar from the DIY sheds,

Same here, I've debadged every car I've owned if it hasn't been already, even my M5 got debadged.

For £10 why mess about with double sided tape and the possibility of one or more of the letters not being straight or evenly spaced?

Thanks, purchased from Screwfix and car now painted, lacquered and badges refitted. Hardest part was trimming the tape to the letters, used wife’s chopping board and held scalpel blade at a slight angle to undercut the tape

Template made a good job of position and alignment , well pleased with result
