Smartguard Gen 3 glasscoat

I have been offered this (at cost to me) by the dealer supplying my new nearly new car (9 months old). I am well aware this is an add on to try and earn the dealership some money (they won't be making much from the sale).
But, I want the car protected and I would rather it be done before I pick it up.
What is the general consensus of this product? Is it a good product? Is it a good product that will be applied badly? Or should I just refuse it, polish and wax myself when time and weather allow?
The dealership are asking £399 for it, not had a chance to discuss a price reduction yet.

Dont do it!

Dealership coatings such as this are well documented as being poorly (if at all) applied & will die off in a matter of weeks

If you want your car protected, find a local detailer & have a proper ceramic coating applied, I dont think it’d be that much dearer than what the dealer is quoting

Do it yourself or pay a reputable detailer. Even if the detailer is more expensive atleast you will be likely to actually get what you are paying for.

£400 gets alot of cleaning gear for diy

their stuff will be 95% profit for the salesman

when i worked at a dealer it was often not even applied and if it was it done by a half interested min wage oik - just a good drink for the salesman especially if added to rip off finance

My neighbour had it applied to a new car at a cost of £300 what a mess they left on the car but she was delighted with it . Didn't have the heart to tell her how bad it was .
