5ltrs of emulsion all over the boot well
Discussion
Yesterday turned out to be eventful! Brand new tin of emulsion emptied in the boot. Had a boot liner which saved some of the carpet but it’s all in the boot well and all over 3 elec modules, wires and the car battery.
The car is a hybrid Range Rover and the paint has covered the wiring loom to the EV battery too. There’s still loads under the normal battery which I haven’t taken out yet due to losing the light and will to live, last night.
I’ve been using a cheap steam temu steamer cleaner which has helped but it’s all dried now and still need to remove loads of it.
Any advice what product is best to remove dried emulsion? I’ve just read about using tar remover or wd40 but seeing if you guys have ever experienced such a sh*t show.
Also read online that some cars are written off due to this!

many moons ago i was driving with 6 x 5 litre tins of Magnolia emulsion in the boot of a Vauxhall calibra . . Was driving around 40 mph when an old git suddenly pulled out of his drive . I made an emergency stop . And everything went into slow motion . The car came to a very abrupt holt .
Sadly the unrestrained tins of paint were still travelling at speed ... they hit the rear seats which folded forward and a wave of emulsion came through the centre console covering everything .
I dived into the nearest car park .....which happened to be a pub with a shingle carpark and started bailing out what i could .
then straight home .. I ended up drilling holes in the floor pan removing front rear seats and getting a garden hose to fill the car while i scrubbed the carpets
took about 4 hours . as others have posted i used a load of back to black , boot polish , and black spray on the carpet ... sold car after that
