About to get a new car done. Previously had crystal serum light with exo v5 which I have been very pleased with, but was wondering if anyone has any real world experience of any advantage of going Ultra v Light ? Cost difference is £100. This will be done by a fully qualified detailer.

Ultra with Exo v5 is the pinnacle.

What colour is your car? Ultra is notoriously difficult to apply, and I’ve experience of doing so. Even if they’re qualified, they may still struggle, so if you’re not confident they can do it properly, I would go for CSL.

For the additional £100 outlay you may as well go with Ultra - Ultra/EXO is definitely slicker than CSL/EXO.

Pretty much nobody keeps their car for 5yrs let alone 9yrs so the longevity aspect is irrelevant and even if you did keep it for 9yrs you'd be looking to reapply EXO every 18/24mths anyway.

Ultra isn't as tricky to apply as the internet makes out;)...and that side of things is not your problem as a customer anyway.

It’s Alfa Montreal Green. It will be done by a Gtechnic qualified professional detailer who I have used before.

Ultra is the most challenging ceramic I ve worked with, notably:

Flashes extremely quickly
Is rock hard - if you mess it up, and don t spot it quickly, you ll have to polish it off or use a strong acid

This is something the customer should consider because not everyone, even those accredited , can do it properly.

I d rather have CSL done properly, than Ultra done poorly, and I wouldn t want the headache of having to re do it.

The problem is, the last time I checked, the training given by gtechniq for Ultra is sub optimal.

Edit:

OP - ask them how many cars he does as a % for Ultra. That’ll give you an indication

If they do a lot, that’s a good thing - it requires a tight, well practiced process and if they’re doing it regularly, it’ll be second nature to do it.
