Getting my 2008 CLK cleaned today I noticed a plastic film screenn protector loose on the radio screen/display. I assume it has been there since new, maybe should have been removed during original pdi who knows?

Anyway I tugged it, the film came off cleanly but a couple of tiny bits won't lift, feels a bit like a glue residue.

Would it be ok to clean with meths do you think?

Nooo! Lightly rub with your finger or a damp cloth. I wouldn't be using any sort of solvent on any sort of clear plastic.

Thx

Finger and damp cloth were ineffective.

I found an edge and got of another piece of plastic, (5mm x 3mm) some Tcut cleaned more residue/plastic/glue off. Not there yet but giving up today because I get impatient with these things.

About 50% better sofar.

If you’ve still got the remaining removed film, try tacking the sticky side of that on the remaining residue, it will often lift away what’s left.

The film broke up as it came off, no tacky side.

I used some isopropyl alcohol wipes, softened it a bit and managed to lift some more off. Still a hard residue, I'll keep working at it.
