Replacing headlining - how to remove adhesive?

The headlining in my Audi A4 (B6) dropped badly.

I removed the entire headlining board and the fabric came away quite easily leaving a gooey sticky mess of foam.

We scraped most of this off with some stout brushes and a nylon 'wire' wheel brush, but we're still left with a sticky layer of adhesive.

We've tried tar remover and IPA and neither of this shifts the mess.

Does anyone have any experience with roof linings? Can you recommend a way to remove the remaining glue?

a bit of heat and a scraper. It's always a horrible time consuming job.

You can try Acetone, just try it on a small area first to make sure it doesn't react with the board.

If its ok then soak a rag and lie it over the mess and let it soak in for a couple of minutes then try a plastic scraper, you can get plastic razor blades in bulk and scrape away, but basically its a time consuming and laborious and there aren't any short cuts.
