Hi, some dim wit (and I'm being kind here) has kindly put their initials in blue permanent marker on my silver wheel arch!!

Any advice on how to remove this? I've tried tar remover and T-cut, the former didn't do anything and the latter didn't do much either.

It's probably laquered and you may need to get quite a way into that to remove the ink. I've got some wonderful stuff from Meguiars for removing small scratches and blemishes - like T-Cut but a little gentler (imo) so you don't have to be quite as careful about getting down to the undercoat!!!

If in doubt I'm sure one of the mobile 'chips away' type outfits could sort it out.

RG,

If you have an Autosmart dealer near you then get hold of a bottle of G101 this should do it but be wary of how much you use. Very sparingly....

Forgot to mention that its a painted plastic wheel arch extension so will G101 be OK on it?

Thanks

I'd try some scratch x and not the G stuff, it can be a little harsh on todays clear coat paint.

Thanks for the offer Zymol but I'm down south. Anyway I took it to local valeter who managed to get the ink off.....but unfortunately has left the area scoured and a very small patch has gone through the paint and primer.

Rgee,

Sorry to hear about the scuff marks. We use G101 diluted when dealing with marks such as pen etc. As long as you do not use it neat then it would have been fine.
If you have been left with scuff marks, then try a decent scratch remover such as Mother's or Meguiars then make sure you use a decent sealer glaze over it.

Cheers

the best way to remove permanent marker is by going over it with a temporary dry wipe marker,it removes it in seconds!

i'll second the drywipe board marker trick, as it was used to great success on a peugot 106 that had every panel done except the roof in permanent marker

Did you get it off, I have to remove Marker pen from metal fairly often, the best thing to use is WD40, i don't know why though!!
Or try T-Cut
If you get really stuck, Tip-ex!!!
