So, this morning, a bright sunny clear day, with my house in exactly the same position as it was the night before, my wife manages to drive her car into our gatepost .

Net result (apart from a knackered gatepost) is a hole punched into the bumper, about a foot lengthways and maybe six inches across.

Does anyone know if this is repairable, and if so, how? Or do I need to find a breakers with a spare bumper - luckily this is only our shopping car, an old Mondeo, so I don't want to spend much money on it.

Thanks in advance.

Probably be cheapest and easiest to get a replacement from a scrapyard. If you can get one the right colour it would save paint costs and be a lot less hassle. I bought one for a Sierra a while ago for £50 so would imagine a Mondeo's shouldn't be too much more.

Good luck!

Thanks Gavin. I called a couple of breakers this morning and as long as I can get one the right colour it should be a low cost accident. I might wrap the bumper and present it to the missus as her Christmas present though!

Seconded! I used to run a car body repair business. the amount of time required to fix the bumper would cost more than getting one from a breaker.

Mk1/11 Mondeo bumpers are fragile and notoriously difficult to repair.

Good Luck!
