Painting Carbon Fibre

What's the best way to paint CF components?
Can you primer straight onto the glossy resin finish or will it just scratch off again?
Should I sand it?

Yes you should sand it to give a decent key for the paint.

I used a plastic primer on my rear wing 'just in case' and despite spraying it on a windy day in my back garden got surprisingly good result. That was about a year ago and the paint still looks fine.
