Im going to start detailing my car a little more carefully than usual. Ive just read a guide that someone posted on here not so long ago.

I just wanted to know what products I should be using. Clean & Shiny are based 5 mins from my house and I was thinking of going down there to speak to them to see what products they recommend.

What products does everyone on here recommend? Im considering using Megiuars (spelling?) or possibly Zymol. I want to start off by washing and shampooing all the excess dirt off. Then drying it and using a clay bar to remove tar, bugs, etc, then polishing it and then waxing it. Is that correct? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Firstly, you've onbviously thought about it, and it's always a good call to speak to the folks who sell the products and who are the detailers themselves. I have always found them a wealth of information, in a game where there is no substitute for experience.

As to the process, it depends on how carried away with it you want to get. What you have suggested will work fine without being too onerous. As a suggestion, try using a polish that has a slight "filler" action like P21s - it will help smooth over the swirl marks before you use the wax.

You will find that everyone has their favourite products (including the pros), so don't be afraid to experiment and change from time to time. I happen to love the Zymol car wash as it smells fantastic!

I went down to clean and shiny yesterday. John who runs it was more than helpful. Decent bloke who knows exactly what he's talking about and will sort you out with whatever you need. I have purchased the following:
Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo
Meguiars Gold Class Quick Clay
Poorboys EXP Sealant (I think!)
Poorboys Natty Carnuba paste Wax
3 Microfibre cloths
Sponge Applicator

Im going to spend Saturday detailing and I will post the results and my thoughts on the products once I have used them. I definitely recommend www.cleanandshiny.co.uk

not especially, its arctic silver (clio 172). Would be better if it was black, then I would really be able to see the shine!
