alloy cleaning

I keep my wheels very clean but have some
stuborn marks in the corners.(brake dust build up or tar me thinks)
I dont want to scrub to hard just in case of
scratching.
whats the best stuff/process

Baron,

Have you tried a claybar.It removes the tar spots very well without damaging the alloy. Its used mainly for cleaning paintwork from contaminants.
Most major wax brands have their own products so it shouldnt be hard to find. Either that or search for Claybar on Ebay..

A claybar as already suggested or a good paint cleanser such as Autoglym Super Resin Polish, Meguiars Deep Crystal stage 1 or Klasse/Carlack All in One. First two you can get from halfords.

I have the same problem. I've tried the claybar, but with limited success, it kind of justs smooths over the dirt without actually taking it off. I'm not sure if it's tar or just proper baked on dust but it's rough, like sandpaper.

Sorry for the rambling description but this stuff's doing my head in. Car's mint but the wheels look ruuuuuubish...
