After needing some work done on my Aston, I have chosen to go the full-monty and have a bare metal respray. the interior is black, so I can choose any colour.

The problem is: I cannot decide. Even with lots of photos, I cannot choose. I am not asking for your opinions- one persons favourite colour is another persons awful colour, but I would like to know if is is possible to get a photo of my car and see different colours on it, to help me choose.

Is there a computer programme which would help me do this? Waht do you do?

maybe have a trip down to the painters and have a look at there colour charts?

there are so many options out there tho... all different kinds of paint effects etc

which Aston is it? Do you like greys blacks etc or do you want a strong colour?

Jonny

P.s if you have any good quality pics of your car, maybe i could help by photoshop'in a couple of ideas for you.

Photoshop will do it, and it's not too complicated - search for photoshop tutorials that cover changing car colour, one to get you started is at:

Be very careful about choosing a non Aston colour from the time when your car was built as it will most definitely affect it's resale value.

Its from 1971, so its too old to be affected by that sort of thing, thankfully. It was originally silver, then green, then white, then red.

The online pictures I can find are here:

www.rsclassicracing.co.uk/index.php?menu_id=27

It was very red, with a hint or orange. I am thinking of dark blue, or darker red (cherry red?). Definently not white, black or silver, although gunmetal is another option. A photoshopped photo would be great if you could.

many thanks

Out of the three colours that you mention gunmetal would be my favourite followed by the dark blue then the cherry red.

Nice photos by the way.

Personally I'd go for the Silver it was originally painted. It feels natural to see an Aston in silver.

Either that or brooklands green (or whatever Aston call it).

Here are a few examples. Can be done by changing the hue within a photo program.

Cant accurately reproduce the paint colours but enough to give you a rough idea.

The yellow actually looks very nice.

If that is your model then I would probably do it the original silver, but if it is the later model with the swoopy grill line (v8 shell) then a gunmetal/pewter grey or a minky brown met would look sexy. Basically the bond colours!

Argeed, the yellow is reminiscent of 70's Lambos' and Maseratis and seems of the era.

Gunmetal would look great, something similar to the one you can get Honda S2000s in.

Fancy a girls point of view...probably not but your going to get it anyway!

I love a red head, there arent many cars that can pull it off, but the classics generally can. Steer clear of orangey reds, unfortunatly my red pug gti has gone a proper ginger over the years and ginger certainly isnt as appealing - im sure you boys will agree! I think a deep cherry red would look the dogs danglies, or a deep sorronto/racing green - right back to the British basics baby!

There's a deep metallic burgundy that I've seen on a few Exige's, looks v. classy and would really suit the car.www.pistonheads.com/sales/115168.htm

Thanks everyone. I'm still no closer to choosing a colour, but I have found a website which shows various cars in various colours:

http://rides.webshots.com/album/17139

I do like the car on page 2 (of 6), bottom left....But then the dark red Lotus colour is very nice indeed.
