Machine for wet'nDry work?

I am now thinking about preparing my latest project for a re-paint, I understand that I need to wet and dry the existing paintwork, which is in good condition, and then wipe over with pre paint. My question is this : is there a machine of some sort that I could use to take out all/a lot of the handwork involved? Thanks.
