Hi all,

Quick query really - I tend to get a lot of static build up on my paintwork when I am prepping the paint and polishing etc. I use standard microfibre towels and applicators. Not a big deal but a pain in the backside with dust and airborne particles "attaching" themselves to the statically charged paintwork!

Anyone else get annoyed by this or can offer any suggestions/advice?

Cheers!

Some of the products on the market claim to repel dust etc once bonded to the paintwork. The ionic waterless products certainly seem to have this effect when we've tried them.

We have an airline blow gun that electrically charges the airstream and prevents static cling for dust on the bodywork - but this is a several hundred quid piece of kit - we use it prior to painting panels to help with avoiding any final dust contamination.

Thanks Anatol,

Well I aint gonna be spending out hundreds on specialist equipment so perhaps it is the materials I am using (Mother's) or the cloths/applicators. Will keep experimenting...

Cheers

Try some Quick Detailer such as the Chemical Guys Extreme Synthetic, it's supposed to have some anti-static properties.

Funnily enough, I have some Mother's quick detailer that comes with their clay bar kit - don't normally use it unless I am claying but just had a quick go round with it and it does seem to be holding off the dust etc....nice one! thumbup
