I'm looking for a quality detailer in the Northampton area to carry out paint correction and wax treatment on my old classic Porsche. Also needs minor scratch / stonechip repair. Would appreciate any personal recommendations.

Cheers,
UKTM

Nathan at Cambridge Autogleam regularly travels to us at Fearnsport (Silverstone) to do customers' Porsches... CGTs, 996 GT3s etc. I'm sure he'd travel to you if you gave him a call. www.cambridgeautogleam.com is the site I believe.

Cheers thanks for that, looks like a really good guy. Most of his work seems to be on newer cars though. Anyone else out there who maybe specialises more in older classics? Also forgot to mention that it needs a bit of front end stonechip repair too, including perhaps a respray on the chin spoiler. So also looking for a top class paintshop.

Hi there.

yes most of my work is on modern paint but i have done a 1972 3.0 CSL, E30 M3 with single stage red paint, 964 C2 with VERY BAD single stage red.

If you want another name though try Gary Funnell from www.refinedreflections.co.uk hes another top detailer and i would highly recommend his work.

As for a paint shop.. best to get any work done before detailing. Talk to Dom at Fearnsport and find out where they send the zanzibar red Gt3 for paint.. i know the owner wouldnt stand for anything but the best paint work so the bodyshop they use must be good.

good luck

Cheers, thanks for the advice. Yes, I was planning to get the paint repairs done first. Once I've got the paint sorted I'll contact either yourself or the other guy you recommended for a quote on the detailing. The examples shown on your website are superb by the way, very impressive.

It's an original 1973 911 2.4S

Paint is shiny and still looks pretty good in daylight. But it's suffering from a lot of swirling, especially on the roof. It really shows it up under my garage strip lighting. Looks like it's been cleaned with something slightly abrasive. Should be a challenging project to put right!

Many thanks for the recommendation Nathan smile

Great car UKTM smile did a same year Targa S a couple of weeks back, the early 911 lines have in my eyes still to be beaten, and I doubt they will.

Yeah I agree, nothing beats the classic lines of the original 911. It's simply timeless.

Here's a photo showing the swirls

I've used a few detailers and there is only one I'd recommend, especially when it comes to Porsches, Gurcharn from Elite Detailing. Not too far from either as he's based in Derby. He has done many Porsches and is passionate about the marque.

The best detailer I've used by a long way.

Do you mind if I thread highjack for a moment?

No? Good.

I too have a classic which I want detailing in the near future. My Aston Martin has just had a full resrpay and its being put back together as we speak. When its done, I want to protect the paint, so I want someone in the east mdilands to detail it for me (and to use the protective film over the front and other places to protect it from stone chips). I live in Leicester, but we're probably moving to Ashby soon.

Some photos are here:

(it has the screen in, and most of the trim since these were taken)

Can you let me know if yuo would be willing to do it, and if so some examples of what you have done in the past would be useful.

I can help both of you chaps. Ashby is about 20 mins from me and Northampton isn't a problem either. Feel free to email me as I don't really want to tread on Admin's toes etc.

Regards
Gurcharn
