I recently made the leap and bought a Porter Cable and a set of Sonus pads and polish.
I've treated the old C280 (dark metallic blue) to a clay and polish with Sonus SFX-1 finished with Klasse.

Now don't get be wrong, ther results are good, but not as excellent as I expected them to be......

Having recently returned from leaving the car parked for nearly a month it had a good collection of all manner of flora and fauna.
Having given the bonnet half a dozen goes with SFX-1 with a green pad and fastest speed I just can shift the leaf marks.

Am I doing sonething wrong?
Am I using the wrong products?
Am I being unrealistic with 13 year olf paintwork?

Sounds like you need a more aggressive compound and/or pad.
That or you're not putting enough pressure on the PC to break down the polish.
As said above, DW is useful as is autopia.org forums.
You could always buy a detailing DVD from thepolishingcompany.com which is made by an American company - Mike from showcargarage.com, IIRC.

Menzerna 4" pads and Menzerna polish are needed for M-B cars. The paint is hard and will take some time to restore to its original condition and to reduce swirls / additional marks. You also need to do what is called a slow polish.

Have a look on sites like Autopia.com and Detailingworld.co.uk for great understanding of a slow cut polish and how good a finish it will give your paintwork.
