Well, wheels are being refurbed, calipers etc painted, new number plates, surround and plinth ordered.

Car thoroughly washed and just finished clay sticking it. Clay coming away nice and clen, BUT...there are still marks in the paint. Look like a selection of baked on/in suicidal bug marks and water marks. The bugs are all gone and the paint feels nice and smooth, but as I said still marks showing.

The question is, without the benefit of a PC, what should I use next? I have Megiuars 3 step system so there is the no ! paint cleanser. I also have Meguiars Scratch remover (and Mothers of the same ilk). I also have Zymol HD cleans.

Now I'm thinking that maybe Meguiars No 1 followed by Zymol HD (and where necessary scratch removal) should do the job, but are the two products the same so will I be wasting my time?

Off to the gym for an hour to let everything dry off before I start the clean/polish/wax/sweat/collapse/need beer and artificial respiration by a beautiful passing woman (OK maybe the last bit is a little ambitious ;-)).

All contricbutions gratefully received...

OH, I also have Megiuars Clear Coat Scrub.

to be honest it sounds like its going to need a pc or udm - by hand imo is not going to get you far

have a look on the detailing world forum and find somebody local who can do the work

i guarantee you will find it money well spent and will be amazed at the end result

it will cost you a few quid but once its 'sorted' you are on a sound basis to maintain said finish with regular CAREFUL maintenance

The thhiiiinngggg iiiiss that I three of our four cars tend to be very well looked after, so it would be more sensible for me to buy a PC. However, just a little concerned about damaging the paint by using it myself.

Still, looks like today I'll be doing the best that I can by hand (!!) then buying some equipment to do it properly.
