Mixing detailing products.

Got a pot of Zymol Concours wax in the fridge, had it a couple of years, used it when I first bought it, but didn't really rate it, especially the HD cleanse that you have to do before using the wax.

I have used the Meguiars 1-2-3 package, and the results have been really good, I'm going to do a proper job of the Bentley this weekend, and want to try the Zymol again on it. I was wondering if I could use the Meguiars step 1 paint cleaner instead of the Zymol HD cleanse though, as I hated that stuff, and I think the shelf life of mine has expired anyway. The Meguiars step 1 is so easy to use with a foam applicator, and comes off beautifully, then I was going to use the Zymol wax?

Hope to get a coat of Zymol on the car on Saturday afternoon, then another coat on Sunday morning, and maybe a third on Sunday evening.

Can you put layers on that quick, or do you have to leave it a few days?

Can do, but I'd err on the side of leaving a good 24 hours per layer, with just a light misting of QD to remove anything that's settled on it overnight.

spitshine the layers of wax. by this i mean spraying a fine layer of cold water onto the wax as you buff it off. keep working until you get the brilliant shine. this will help to set the wax off and allow you to build up greater layers of wax in a shorter time.

forgot to say earlier. once you run out of the megs step 1 try some dodo juice lime prime or lime prime lite. cracking products and much nicer to get on with than the hd cleanse plus better than the megs product imo.
