detailing question [sort of]
Discussion
morning all,
have got a problem you detailers may be able to help with [i have seen the famous detailed dyson y'see
]
basically i bought an acrylic roll top bath in the january sales and it has been sat in the garage since then.
i have changed my plans and am now wanting to sell the bath but - due to my not protecting it properly - it is covered in lots of hairline scratches, a few deeper ones, and has a gouge in the bottom [no idea what from].
i'm filling the gouge with epoxy resin but have no idea what would be the best way to remove the light scratches and polish the acrylic up to its previous showroom shine.
a quick google search says to sand deeper scratches with 800/1200 grade paper, then a polish using duraglit/brasso followed by a final buff using silver polish.
seems a cost effective way of doing things, but i wondered what say you guys who might be used to doing similar things with car interiors.
also, would i be able to machine polish acrylic or would it be better to do it by hand? if machine, what sort of pad would i need?
thanks for looking. bit of a silly qn. for here but i would appreciate any sound advice.
cheers,
phil.
