Evening all,

A mate has purchased a car from a smoker, He knew this and thought that a good valet would get rid of the smell. But no matter what air fresheners he sprays at it the smell always seems to return and linger.

Any ideas how to get rid of the smell for good?

We bought an estate car a few years back, where the owner had travelled with dogs in the back. The smell was awful, however the wife tried 'shake and vac' twice on all the upholstry and this got rid of the smell.

Could work with cigarette smoke, that fabreeze is quite good also.

Good luck

When I got my Astra it stank of grime and oil.

God only know what the previous owner had been using it for but is smelled like an old Van

I wet vac'd all the carpets and upholstery and probably used a whole bottle of Febreze in 3 sessions.

Job done!

Try slicing a few lemons up and leaving them in various places overnight in the car for a couple of weeks......

Had a RR Sport for 6 months, which belonged to a smoker.

Despite 4 valets by the dealer, the smell still won't go.

It's deodourised for a while but always comes back.

Just traded it in for a newer one,
