Whats the typical findings in vehicles then for all us detailing / valeting types out there?? Not meaning as in sitting on the seat etc, more the things people didn't realise or had forgotten about.

Money is an obvious one, most I have found was approx. £45 in a TVR, yes not only do they empty your wallet but steal your pennies too..........the owner was shocked and delighted at that wee find!

Underwear is an occasional finding, socks, tights, a lost passport, memory cards, glasses, all the usual things.

Recently, war medals ( thats like fighting medals, not medals from Newcastle ), bullets(?!?), hand gun, oh and a hunting knife.

Barbed wire was about the most serious lesson I learned after finding it coiled up under the seat of a car.......

Can't give any details out on cars and owners though as some might just be Ph ers!!!

Cheers

Al

Years ago, when I worked for one of the larger companies, two of us went out to replace a couple of vandalised windows on a Rangey... we came across about 10g of coke in little zippy bags.

Then there was 'Simba' who left his car at home while he went to work. His wife wanted to watch me change the windscreen... as wiped the dashboard down, one of the dash-mounted speaker grills popped off to reveal about six condoms...

This is not a joke found £200000 under the seats and in the boot of a car!!!
Some was in a ruck sack and the rest in a strong box all bundled together straight from the bank!!! eek

The owner went on a 2 week holiday just after he dropped off the car and said do you want paying up front for the work !!!!

Spoke to him during his holiday and detail to explain what i have found, he asked if i could look after it for him!! And this is with never meeting him in the past.....That TRUST for you !!!

Had a Montego in for service, lent the guy a newer Montego demo car, he liked it so we did a deal on the actual demo car he was in, and he stayed in it. He was a vet, the dead dog in the boot of his old one was a fair old oversight, I must say.

I had an XR2 donkeys years ago and it was left with an unnamed Ford Dealership for a service.. When I got the car back there was an empty box of Benson and Hedges Fags in it with two ready rolled spliffs... Suffice to say they were combusted and disposed of into my lungs...

A really nice lady wrote off one of our loan cars. Car came back on a tow truck, put the car in the holding yard and checked it for personal belongings before the scrappy came for it. In the boot was the hardest of hardcore german jazz mags, some videos, and a plastic bag full of 12" phalluses. To look at the woman she was more jam and jerusalem than jizz and sadomasochism. The boys had a laugh that night as we watched some unspeakable acts on the video and we laced a few stty customer's cars with the schlongs.

When I was police in Croydon stopped a guy driving really badly.

When I asked him a few questions nothing added up.

Turned him and the car over and in the glove box..........

I asked him if it was live. His answer - I kid not.

'Dunno, pull the pin and chuck it over there and see what happens.'

It was live, and so old he was lucky not to have blown himself up.

now back to finding a way to get badly brake dust scored alloys back to at least respectable!
