Can alloy wheels be straightened and could this be done by a wheel refurbishment company?

My Lancia wheels cannot be balanced, due to visible dents on the inside edge rims, it looks like it has happened when someone has hammered on a balancing weight!

Thanks

Can be done, but not all alloy wheel refurbishers have the equipment.

This company do,
http://www.pristinealloywheels.co.uk
and having inspected their work, can vouch that the wheels come back "good as new" not like the mobile companys that just paint the face of the wheel.

Pristine Alloy's website said:
"On safety grounds, we won't repair buckled wheels - where the rim is distorted relative to the centre section."
Not sure if the damage you have would come under that category, but sounds like they only do cosmetic refurbishing work, not straightening.

Tol, you are quite correct, I only mention them because I can vouch for their work, a quick search brought up this

http://www.alloywheelrepairs.net

Some of the repairs are amazing, really, wheels that look beyond any sort of comeback.

They look like they could handle it! Pity they aren't closer. At least it shows the repairs I need should be possible. It is literally the very outside edge, where the balancing weights hook over the rim, bending in slightly at one point.

This company has repaired loads of wheels for me and i have seen many
lancia wheels there over the years as they are very soft and bend it the first sight of a pot hole!laugh

They are alot closer to you and do a pick up and drop off all over the south of england !!!

Lepsons refurbished my Alpina 18" wheels. Came up a treat and one needed straightening as it was causing a slight air leak. Recommended!

Thanks for that! I think I'll be paying them a visit. It's true, they do seem to be made from incredibly soft alloy.

having used a few companies i would have no hesitation in saying Pristine are the BEST in the uk

they will not do illegal/dangerous repairs

they do refurbs/repairs for Porsche/Ferrari etc main dealers - nuff said!!

in fact i had the GC wheels refurbed and they came back BETTER than when new - they can diamond polish unlike the backstreet boys who do a spray and pray!!

Flamin' heck, you're not wrong. There's me thinking scrap metal, and they can resurrect, for a very good price too...

I'll have to start recommending them when wheels are beyond cosmetic repair...

Having used both Pristine and Diamond Styling on a number of sets of wheels, I'd argue that Diamond Styling is probably the best in the UK but Pristine are just behind them and generally a lot cheaper. Thumbs up to both but Pristine are very good smile

At Diamond Styling we offer a straightening service, providing that the integrity of the wheel is not compromised. www.diamondstyling.co.uk
