I have an annoying 6 inch diagonal set of deep scratches or gouges from a scrape with a garage wall in a TVR PRG body on the near side front wing.

The question here is can these be repaired without a full scale repair & respray? The PRG isn't cracked or split just deep scratches & need surface filling of some sort. On a metal body they could be filled sanded & sprayed, but what about PRG.

Any advice gratfully appreciated.

If the substrate is undamaged, then the coatings can be refinished in a very similar way to a metal-bodied panel. Completely different story if the composite has cracked.

Andy, excuse the ignorance but what's PRG? Do you mean GRP (Glass reinforced plastic)? If so then it won't be a problem. I did exactly the same thing although mine was the rear wing, just behind the wheelarch. I had one of those "Chips-Away" specialists who had been recommended and he fixed it during one sunny day at home outside my garage. After preparing, filling and painting the repair he got at my stone chips at the front while waiting for it to dry. Then he polished it out and it's invisible. No piont me recommending him as he only works locally - doesn't need to go any further. Just a man in Transit with a compressor and a paint-stained lap top for looking up the paint codes.

Hope this helps a bit. Good luck.

Thanks for confirmation - relieved to hear it can be repaired traditionally.

Now i only need to establish how the paint can be matched from a missing paint code - non-standard TVR colour !!!!!!!

PRG GRP - always thought it was Plastic Re-enforced Glass - same difference i guess

Most decent paint suppliers will be able to scan a flat portion of the car with a spectrophotometer and provide a blendable paint, even if the car isn't coded...
