Smart repairs , do you think this can be done???

I've split the bumper on my E class and since i want to sell the car soon i thought i'd try and repair it. Obviosuly MB want a fortune for a new bumper probably looking at about £1k for a top bodyshop job so i thought i'd have a go myself.

I heated the area with a hot air gun and managed to epoxy the split up , it seems secure.

Its clearly going to need filling and spraying to finish the job , its this in the scope of mobile repairs or is this still going to need a bodyshops input??

As se7en says, for a competent repairer that is a very straightforward job.

It's likely that your epoxy won't be sufficient base for a repair though - and will cause problems if the repairer normally uses hot welding to reinforce splits as the finished resin isn't thermoplastic. A repairer that uses a cold weld system will be able to sort it out without difficulty. Otherwise the epoxy will need grinding out.

Chipsaway quoted £161 , local bodyshop quoted £150 to do whole bumper

If they're painting the entire bumper, make sure their paint match is perfect - otherwise they should fade it out into the adjoining panels. A decent local repair will be blended into the rest of the panel, but the classic bodyshop 'paint the whole thing' needs to be spot on with the match, or blend adjoining, or you end up with one panel with hard edges that doesn't match the rest...
