I will need to replace the TVR at some point soon, I'm not seeing colours I like. I'm toying with buying a good car I like, then putting it in for a full colour change. It would be a modern TVR and I'm thinking of two colours at the moment which suit - both Lamborghini colours (orange and green).

I've used Specialised Paintwork just West of Reading several times over the years and they are great - they would be the first place to go for a quote. But while I'm dreaming, any hints on cost would be appreciated?

Ta.

Not exactly up the road, but you should seriously consider our member KDS for the job.
Attention to detail will be nigh on unparalleled, so you know the car will be done perfect without having to go back a second time to complain about something not being quite right or to your satisfaction.
Based in Gillingham - so may or may not be a reality, but worth at least asking to see how competitive your preferred place is when they quote.
Bank on at least £1500-1800, but also consider a vinyl wrap, although life expectancy is around 24-36 months typically, and maybe 18 depending on various factors.

Thanks. I doubt it is that cheap though. More like £3k. A proper front end respray can hit £1k, and we're talking colour change here too so all the nooks and crannies (mind you a TVR is better for this than cars with paint showing on the 'inside' of the car.

Typically you figure around £150 per panel - 2x wing, door, bumper, rear 1/4, 1x bonnet, roof, boot results in 11 panels.
Of course the flip paints will cost considerably more, but as you're looking at metallic or pearlised orange/green, then it'll be in that region.
Add on the door shuts and other shut lines, including if the engine is removed to do the engine bay, and then £2500 starts looking more realistic.

I paid £2.5k to respray my e30 m3 but that included me stripping and fitting most parts and rubbing it down.

To simply drop the car off and pick it up with a full colour change I would expect £4-5k for a good job.

Something I'm planning as well (except not changing car, just respraying the Tuscan).

SP Automotive were advertising full resprays at £2k not so long ago, Power quote £3k+VAT on their website. I expect both those will increase when a colour change is part of the deal, and there are bound to be a few extras to add on.

I suspect I'll end up going with Power at the same time as getting the 4.3 upgrade...but neither will be happening until my current engine lets go!

Not totally true Phil - calendered vinyls have a short lifespan, but are mainly used for printed wraps, cast vinyls have anything from 5 - 10 year lifespan and are generally used for colour change wraps
