Motorbike degreasing
Discussion
Could someone recommend a good bike degreaser please? I'm sick of spending hours and pouring money down the drain on cloths, etc whenever I want to degunk my swingarm/wheels/sidestand!
SDOC100 was ok, but really expensive! Something that's available from Halfords would be nice! I have thick layers of what I imagine is chain wax built up all over the swingarm and sidestand

When I had a saturday job wey back when cleaning bikes for my local motorcycle dealer I used to coat the bike in 'muck off', then used a diesel jet washer to blast it off. It would get the paint work up really well, but it was down to the sheer force of the presure washer the muck around the swing arm and rear wheel came off. It was then a case of elbow grease and a fair bit of hard work if a bike was a bit of a shed. You have to watch the alloy and screen though as if you leave the chemical on for to long (especially when its hot) it will stain, which is near impossible to remove. So all in all, big pressure washer and hard work gets the job done!

Don't think a pressure washer on a bike is a good idea. That muck off stuff is not a patch on SDOC100. Have heard good things about the Bilt Hamber - worth a try if the SDOC price is too much (which it probably is).trickywoo said:

Most of them seem much of a muchness, autoglyms wasn't too bad I seem to remember. some of them I'd be reluctant to use due to them being fairly 'aggressive' and me being a bit of a worry-monger when it comes to damaging what is fairly thin paint finish on swingarms and the like. Ot
When it comes to degreasing the swingarm of a bike I kid ye not when I say that powerforce kitchen cleaner, and a toothbrush is the daddio. Honest, it gets rid of anything, and doesn't knacker the paint or any of that rubbish. Costs next to nothing from aldi. I've been using it for a couple of years now and swear by it.
spray on, give it a quick scrub / wipe after leaving it for 20 seconds or so, rinse off. Enjoy the sparkly goodness.
