I've just got a brand new XKR and I'm looking for recommendations for a detailer who can do a protection detail - anyone you really rate in London?

many thanks!

Felix, I would approach one of the protective film companies to be honest. If you car is new they offer a much better solution than just a detail plus waxes.

Over the last five or so years protective film hasmoved on leaps and bounds. Gone are the days of peeling edges, yellowing over time and it looking like a teenagers DIY project.

Today the top race teams all use film to protect their bodywork, from NASCAR and WRC through to BTCC and F1 / F3.

You can choose from a menu how much of your car you want protected, most people choose the leaning edges, lower portions of the car and front spoiler, wing mirrors and bonnet edge.

The art to a good finish is having it done by a professional on a decently clean car with decent paintwork.

Paintshield Xpel make a good film and are based in Peterborough.

Ventureshield are also product leaders and fitters who are based in Daventry, Northants.

You could also look at companies like Permaguard who manufacture a 'nanotechnology' coating which bonds to your paintwork and makes your car easier to clean...no more waxing. You do however need to have this reapplied every eighteen or so months. Again it make steh car easier to clean, protects the exterior but will not stop stone chips.

Finally Gtechniq have an interesting product...can't say I know much about it but it does protect your paintwork, it is not a film more like a coating. Not sure if it protects against stone chips though!
