Meguiar's Hot Rims first time use
Discussion
I just used this for the first time. My wheels had about a weeks worth of dust and grime on them. They are 17inch alloys on an E92 beemer. I was quite impressed at the results. The wheels have enough SRP remaining to bead water. So reasonably easy to keen. I didn't need a brush or was too lazy to get one. Actually a bit of both.
I guess really I wanted to see if could avoid needing one. (Yes I know you are supposed to.) But thanks to the remaining SRP any slight remaining grime came off with a couple of finger rubs during rinsing. (Washed hands very thoroughly immediately after.)
The thing is though I got through half the bottle before I noticed. I was kinda just squirting away quite happily covering the wheels in foam. So great results but half a bottle was more than I expected to use in one session. Would be interested in experience of others. I would probably use less next time. But would still think I'd use around a third of a bottle. Needs a buy one get one half price offer!

Wow you're using a bit too much product as said above. There are much better products out there fella for cleaning wheels too. Plus they work out cheaper in the long run.
Btw - SRP has very little or even no protective properties to it. Anything it does have will have been removed by the hot rims. Get them clean and then get 3 - 4 coats of poorboys wheel sealant (or similar) on there. Then you'll only need normal car shampoo to remove the brake dust. Top up a layer on the wheels every time you wash the car. :thumb:

Poorboys wheel sealant eh? that sounds like good advice. I've only recently got into detailing and my main motivation is having a car that is very quick to clean in between the longer, less frequent sessions.
I'm slapping my forehead about the SRP being removed. I hadn't considered that though its obvious. Not that I'm too bothered. It was only a stop gap while I got something better.
Thanks for the advice chaps. I'll look into the concentrate options too.

I've found the Mequires to be my favourite wheel spray (and I've wasted money on quite a few) although I now use a concentrate, which comes in a 5L bottle. It works out much cheaper.
Much cheaper isn't it. Bilberry or Megs wheel brightner?http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wheels-and-tyres/meg...

Something else too, I've not got 4 pale patches on my drive. Caused by the run off foam from the wheels.
I'm considering hot rimming the entire drive to achieve a uniform finish.
lol. there's a heavy duty drive cleaner out there that some of the guys use for engine degreaser. might work out cheaper. can't remember what it's called though.

There was a tyre foam that I used to use, before I was educated in the way of detailing lol, and it'd seal in those clean patches from the lairy wheel acids.

Nothing to add as everything has been said already!
But can I add a quick recommendation in for Clean Your Car, or more specificially Tim at CYC.
Always very quick deliveries and a little handwritten note in each delivery as a quick thankyou for the order.
Brilliant service!
I'll second that, excellent service. I have all my stuff from them and they've never let me down. But can I add a quick recommendation in for Clean Your Car, or more specificially Tim at CYC.
