Hello to you! I've posted this in Biker Banter but thought someone who browses here maybe able to help.

So, I've offered to have a bash at spraying my mates fibreglass (FRP) track fairings from his '07 Yamaha R6.

They come pre-primered in white but they all need a good sanding prior to any primer.

Does anyone have any tips as to what grade wet and dry I should be using to sand before primer/between coats? Should I bake the coats or will they be ok at room temperature? Do I need to bother with laquer? If I flat the paint after the colour has gone on will I be able to polish it back to a decent finish by hand or will I need a machine polisher? What type of paint/primer would be best?

He's not after a perfect finish as the bike is a track we but I'd like to do the best job possible.

Sorry for all the questions but any advice would be much appreciated!

if you havent got access to any spray kit then rattle cans will be fine,
500grit to sand gel coat
1000-1200 between coats
2000 then 3000 to de-nib before polishing
hand polishing will take time, but 2 hours should be plenty

metalics will need laquer solid colours may not.
