Have I Killed My Cosmo?
Discussion
I bought a nearly new Cosmo cordless buffer / polisher from a fellow PHer a few months ago.
I've used it a couple of times over the summer it worked flawlessly and I really like the results.
I was planning to wash and polish the car this afternoon but, when I went to get the polisher just a few minutes ago, it was dead.
I think that I've killed it.
I've left the charger plugged in and turned on for weeks tbh. I didn't mean to, I left it charging in the 'box' room after I had last used it and plain forgot all about it.

There's no charge light on and no power at all to the machine when the trigger is activated. I checked the instruction booklet which says that it should be unplugged from the charger after 5 hours.........not five weeks.......
Have I killed it? Or have I just damaged either the power pack and/or charger? Will a new power pack do the trick? Or should I buy a new machine?
What say you?
I'm not very pleased with myself at the moment.

Not being funny, buddy, but it doesn't sound like a great machine anyway. Pros use nice corded machines, decent rotaries like the Chicago Pneumatic CP8210, Makita, Flex, Silverline, Kestrel etc. or a decent dual action machine like the Porter Cable, G220 Meguiars or DAS-6 Kestrel. Maybe it's time to move on anyway?
But regarding your present dilemma, sometimes the charging packs give up the ghost on cordless stuff, so try another adaptor in it. I bet the adaptor itself has gone. If not, it will be the cordless battery. These normally cost as much as the machine itself in spare parts prices, so it may not be economical to repair.
PS It's worth pointing out that it should have an overcharge cut out, so leaving it on charge for too long shouldn't have knackered it.
