What would folk say is the minimum space needed for a spray booth?

I'm not talking a heated oven or anything here, purely floor space for polythene to be hung up around and kept as dust free as possible.

Is 5m x 3.1m going to be enough for standard sized cars or am i pissing in the wind?

That's tight. If you want to be working all the way round the car, I'd suggest 4m x 7m.

PLAN FOR EXTRACTION.

Otherwise the polythene that keeps the dust out keeps the spraymist in, and creates a very, very nasty environment. Not only will the fumes harm you, the overspray has nowhere to go but settle back down onto the car (you DON'T want metallic flakes distributed this way!) and the mist will make it impossible to see, as well as creating a VOC explosion hazard (are your light and power sources fully sealed and spark-proof?).

If you're running at negative pressure, the curtains will billow in. You need to weight them or secure them or they'll flap up to touch the car.

ETA - polythene combusts. Consider flame-proof curtains - Mylar sheet can be had for not much.

Cheers for that chief.

I'm restricted in width by some steel framing that's already in there but i can go longer on the booth itself.

It's outer wall too so it'll have an extraction fan in there.

Much appreciated smile
