Hi, i cleaned all the inside glass on my car with a domestic glass cleaner, they came up perfectly clear, but they now mist up very easily.

Any ideas how to stop this, thanks.

Check cabin filter is not in need of renewal, and fire the blowers on with recirculation off - soon fixes the problem.

Got in the car the other morning to a very misty interior so decided to get some
Mist-X and clean the windscreen. I had some Rain-X in the garage as well that I use on my car,
this was the wifes, so gave it a good clean followed by Mist-X interior and Rain-X exterior.
My weekly commute is Glasgow-South Wales so with the weather this weekend it got a good test!
Well the Rain-X/Mist-X combination worked very well BUT...
Checking the contents of both it just says IsoPropanol, I'm sure the manufacturers will say
there are also magic ingredients but it looks like straight Isopropyl to me. Then I thought
£6.99 for a wee bottle of IPA!. So to test my theory I'm going to clean one side of my screen
with Rain/MistX and the other with straight IPA and see how it goes. I imagine with these
wonder cures you are not actually putting on a special coating you are just cleaning it very well.

IPA is a solvent, good at removing grease, but I suspect a product which is blended with surfactants will have better cleaning properties, leaving less for the water vapour to cling on to.

Please dont use Rain-X unless you specificaly want to support the 'charity' / anti-speed pressure group Brake.

If I remember the reason the inside screen mists up is the type of cleaners fault.

Basically most glass cleaners are Hydrophillic and draw moisture from the air, resulting in misted windows.

Megs MXT glass cleaner is one like this and if you have a near empty bottle of this leave it with the top off over night and it slowly starts to top itself up lol.

A really good glass cleaner that doesn't do this is Meguiars Glass Cleaner Concentrate, I think the smallest you can get it in is a gallon but it lasts forever.

I was given 500ml of it and only used half of it in 2 years (2 cars washed fortnightly).
