Hi, just wondering how to remove meguairs mould release wax?
I took some moulds of some pannels on my race car so i've got spares, but time has now come to paint the origonal pannels so I obviously need to get all the wax off so it doesnt react eith the paint. I had to put about 5 layers on so alot to get off.
thanks

Clay bar and some lube should get it all off then just use a panel wipe before painting.

Clay bar won't shift durable waxes completely... use a solvent as well, such as IPA (Isopropylalcohol) as a strong mix with water, or even better, acetone if you can find it. But even meths or turps could do.

I'd always use a strong detergent/degreaser (in an emergency you could use fairy liquid), clay and solvent. Anything that remains after that will have been introduced after. Remember a lot of 'polishes' also contain glaze oils, so you won't just be cutting a finish back.

ok well i'm sure i've got some turps and fairy liquid lying about so i'll give that a go. The whole car has got to be flatted off yet anyway so i'd have thought any remnants would be taken off by the 400 paper, thanks for the advice guys

400? That will remove anything!!!! 4000 will remove coatings etc as well, but a good detergent and turps wipe down will help ensure any powder or residue isn't contaminated. smile
