What harm would it do to cover my car with polish and leave it there without polishing off for the whole of the winter whilst my car is off the road?
would i be able to get it off after a few months without leaving any marks or damaging the paintwork.
Its also a fibreglass/polycarbonate body whether that makes a difference or not.

I have no idea on what it might do to the paintwork after a few months. But why not just take the wax off after you ahveapplied it

and recommened

Don't bother... you might as well cover the car with vaseline if you're that worried wink

Polishes prepare, waxes and sealants protect

So get a wax or sealant

Polish the car first, then apply the wax or sealant and buff

You can't see the sub-micron layer of protection that has been applied, but it will be there

Leaving the residue isn't recommended; it may even cause problems by affecting the surface underneath

Thanks guys, i have not done this i was just wondering if it was ok to do.
to be honest i doubt whether i will have enough time this winter to wash the car let alone wax and seal it.

If it's not going for any repairs of the paintwork, then get it washed and waxed/sealed, even if it means paying someone to do that for you, if time does permit yourself to do it.
The pro you use, or good local member with a bit of savvy between the earholes, should be able to offer advice on any polishing it needs for oxidisation or swirl removal, come the spring.
In this instance, I'd suggest Bilt Hamber Auto-balm, and if there's any areas needing rust remedies or prevention, they'll have something to sort that out too.
Get her clayed and polished when she's all ready to see some springtime sunlight.
