Chrome plating

I've already posted this question on the kit cars forum but maybe this one will get a wider response? Sorry if double posting is frowned upon?

Anyway, the question is I quite fancy having the rocker cover of my Ford CVH engine chrome plated, the engine's in my kit car, a Royale Sabre and I reckon it'd look pretty good chromed.

So I thought I'd take it off and get it done over Christmas. Huh, dream on. I phoned about 6 places today out of Practical Classics magazine and not one of them's working from 23 Dec to 4 Jan. And what's worse two of 'em told me if I get it to them early Jan, with any luck it MIGHT be ready by end of Feb and one even said he had so much work he reckoned Easter was a better bet. The others were talking of 4-6 weeks but maybe longer. And typically I was quoted £150 plus VAT plus delivery of course.

So two things come to mind;

1) Anyone know a chrome plater who might be quicker/cheaper or know a company selling chrome rocker covers for a 1.8 ford CVH engine?

And

2) If there's that much of call for chrome plating, what's involved and is it a business I could set up for say £25K? Anyone want a job/partnership?

They can post something that big no probs & I`ve trusted them with `irreplaceable` stuff.
Chroming is never cheap however - they would quote you a price, probably shut until new year like a lot of engineering/industrial companies.
