Adhesive number plate removal
Discussion
Hi guys!
I've recently had to peel off a self adhesive number plate that was stuck on the 'bonnet' of my car and it's left a black outline as to where it was. Regular car shampoo isn't lifting it, can anyone please recommend something safe that will? It's a metallic finish on a GRP body.
Thanks

Probably just a build up of grime/polish around the slightly raised edge of the self-adhesive VRM.
Tar and Glue remover, leaving a cloth or sponge full of warm water and a mild (ideally intended for bodywork) detergent to soak on it, automotive clay or going in with an appropriate grade of polish - any of those might remove it...

Not sure what it will do to your paint being on GRP, so don't blame me if it goes horribly wrong, but WD40 worked really well to get the adhesive left over from removing bump strips of a mates Corsa. Soaked the adhesive in WD40 left it for a few minutes then "rolled" the adhesive of. Cleaned the panels of with panel wipe then gave it a good wash and it left no marks at all.
Just a suggestion cos I can't guarantee what it'll do to you paint..

I did this the other day.
The Tar and Glue boys are spot on.
I pressure washed the foamy bit off, stripped it off a treat (nozzle was quite close to it for this to work). Then used tar and glue remover on the adhesive. Worked a treat. They use strong solvents though, so watch out on fresh/soft paint.
