Satin black on wheels
Discussion
I want to refurb a set of wheels for the track car, and thought satin black would look nice. My feeling is that the paint should have some form of protection in the form of lacker, but it would turn it into more of a gloss black? Should I use lacker, or leave it at the base coat?
Also, what is the best type of filler for alloy wheels? Is there anything I can pick up at halfords ect. or does it need to be a special type?
Many thanks.

You can use a dedicated satin top coat (lacquer) ,
This will protect the soft matt , or satin black base coat .
I do believe that you can buy cans of satin top coat from bodyshop suppliers such as brown brothers ,
i did this sometime ago when painting black trim around the windows and grill on a Audi RS6 after someone had done a poor job of it in the first place .
this is someone idea of black trim

during paint , used satin black lightly keyed with grey scotch pad then satin lacquer over the top .

still fine a year later

Hi Kelly,
I'm thinking of having some work carried out on my car end of Feb, start of March time.
Car is an E46 M3 cab.
Looking for:
Minor paint correction - few swirls and light scratches
Caliper refurb - powdercoated couple of years back but now rusting through
Wheel colour change (19") - no kerbing but patchy lacquer so I want to change to black/dark grey to match the black grilles/badges etc
If I give you a ring and bring it in at some point could you give me a rough guide price?
Thanks mate
